Customer Fees
List what you charge customers, such as viewing or virtual tour fees, so renters and buyers know before they contact you.
In short
- Set your own fees in the Fees step of your lister profile. Team fees are set by the team owner in the team profile.
- Up to 8 fees, each with an amount in KSh or marked Free.
- Fees show on your profile page, your team page and your listings under "What you'll pay".
- A team's listings show the team's fees, not the lister's own.
- Listing every charge upfront helps you earn the "No hidden fees" badge.
What you can list
Each fee has:
- Fee type: Virtual tour, Physical viewing or Other fee. Virtual tour and Physical viewing can each be added once; add as many "Other fee" entries as you need, each with its own Label (up to 60 characters), such as "Moving help".
- Amount (KSh): a whole number up to 10,000,000, or tick Free.
- Unit: per viewing, per property or one-off.
- An optional Note of up to 120 characters, such as "Refunded if you rent".
Below the list, General notes (up to 500 characters) is for anything that isn't a single fee, such as your terms.
Where to set your fees
- Your own fees: Lister Profile, Fees step (after Specialties). Only lister accounts have this step.
- Team fees: Team Profile, Fees step (after Specialties), with the team selected in the team menu. Only the team owner can change them. Members see them read-only on Team Profile; our admins see them read-only in the editor, with "Only team owners can change fees."
Fees are saved together with the rest of the profile, when you choose Save Profile (lister) or Save Changes (team) on the last step.
Adding a fee
- Choose Add fee. The first fee starts as Physical viewing, then Virtual tour, then "Other fee". Change the Fee type if you need to.
- Untick Free and type the amount, or leave Free ticked. While Free is ticked the amount is locked at 0; if you clear the amount, Free is ticked again.
- Pick the Unit.
- To add a note, choose + Add a note.
Use the arrow buttons to change the order (customers see fees in this order) and the cross to remove a fee. The What you'll pay box beside the editor previews what customers will see.
Where customers see fees
- Your lister page: your own fees, in the "What you'll pay" section.
- Your team's page: the team's fees.
- A listing's page: under "Fees charged by …". A listing that belongs to a team shows that team's fees, even if the team hasn't listed any and you have. A listing in your personal space shows your own fees.
With no fees and no notes, customers see "No viewing fees listed — agree on any fees in writing before paying." Your lister and team pages also show how many reviewers reported a fee they weren't told about upfront, once anyone has answered that question.
The viewing-fee filter
Customers can filter the Listers directory, and its Teams and Individual listers lists, by viewing fee: Free viewings, Up to KSh 500, Up to KSh 1,000 or Up to KSh 2,000. The filter only looks at a Physical viewing fee. If you haven't added one, you won't appear when a customer uses the filter, even if your viewings are free, so add a Physical viewing fee and tick Free.
Common questions
Why can't I see a Fees step?
Your account isn't a lister account yet. Upgrade first.
Why can't I change my team's fees?
Only the team owner can. Ask them, or set your own fees in your lister profile; those show on your lister page and on listings in your personal space.
Do fees affect my badges?
Indirectly. The "No hidden fees" badge depends on reviewers saying they weren't asked for fees they didn't know about. Listing every charge here is the easiest way to keep it. See Earning the badges.
